Some manufacturer's even use the Melamine coated particle board. They do not stand up as well as MDF. It is the Melamine thermosetting plastic that is the most important part of the platen. Shirt Board PalletWe think wood is the best way to go for manual screen printing shops. Wood is easy on the budget. Wood platens offer good life for the cost. Wood screen platens offer much more flexibility to your shop.

Melamine is what keeps the wood from absorbing to much heat from a flash dryer. MDF Board is also mush better at resisting heat caused warping.
